Updated patterns!

I'm in the process of updating my old patterns, particularly the bibs, to include charts. I'm rewriting some of the directions to make the patterns even easier and including alternative methods for beginning the bibs and for making the ties. Look for these patterns in the sidebar to see which ones have been added. It's a slow process, but eventually, they'll all be there!

No Fooling!

Today just happens to be the anniversary of my blog. I sure can pick the dates, can't I?  April Fool's Day. I started it six years ago on a whim and at the gentle prodding of my good pal, Kathy.  She had a blog that I just loved and I remember her telling me how much fun it would be to start one and how I could post my patterns.  I have to admit that I was more than a little skeptical.  Would anyone want to read it?  Would anyone like the patterns?  Now, here I am six years later. My statcounter shows that since I've started the blog, I've had 1,796,114 visits.  (that's not a typo, one million seven hundred thousand!!)  Not only that, but I actually have some followers!  547 of you.  I still have trouble wrapping my head around that especially since I don't feel that I'm very good at blogging.  My posts are far and few between.  I suspect that many of you are just here for the free patterns, since I hardly ever hear from anyone.  Every time I post a new pattern, I'm always anxious to hear how you like it, but sadly (for me), I'm left wondering without much feedback.  That is, of course, until I start seeing the projects popping up on Ravelry.  So I know that some of you do like them and that makes me happy! As I've said, I just do them for fun and I'm happy to share.

So, speaking of sharing, I've decided that in honor of my anniversary, I'm going to post the patterns that were originally published in the 2011 Dishcloth Calendar.  The rights were returned to me quite awhile ago and I've been debating what to do with them.  I could offer them for sale (Gasp!) but I've decided to just post them.  I've dusted them off and updated them a little and I've included a chart which the original publication didn't have.

First up is Belle, one of my favorites:

The pdf files are in the sidebar for all the patterns, or you can click here for the Belle bib and here for the Belle cloth.

Then there's Eleanor:

The pdf for the bib is here or click here for the cloth.

Finally, here's Pete:

The pdf for the bib is here and you can click here for the cloth.

I can't believe that I designed all of these four years ago!  My friend, Denise, was such a huge help to me as she did most of the test knitting.  Here's one of her pictures:
Don't you just love that purple cow?

I hope you enjoy the patterns and thank you for sticking with me!  No fooling!

Happy anniversary. I was looking for an animal blanket pattern for my brothers new baby when i came across your page. I'm using the dishcloth patterns with a bit of tweaking to make a patchwork animal blanket, thank you so much for the inspiration and thank you for sharing the patterns :)

Elaine!! Congratulations on your blogiversary! You silly girl... We LOVE your blog and I check once or twice a week to see if you have updated your blog or not. When you don't, I am not happy but when you do, I am thrilled! Today I am sooo thrilled to see Belle being released and I love her! I am going to snatch the pattern as soon as I am done with this swap knitting I am doing! I would rather do Belle than this swap knitting! Keep up the great work you do!

I'm not on the net much, but I definitely check out your blog on a regular basis and am amazed at the amount of designing and knitting you manage to get done. Of course, I love the patterns and the bibs and cloths are my go-to for baby gifts, as I usually have a number of sets done up in various colors and patterns. Your other projects give me a lot of feedback about yarns, too. Thanks so much for your generosity, and Happy Anniversary!

I'm very sorry for reading your blog and making your bibs and not thanking you for sharing - your life and your designs. I've enjoyed your blog for some time now and have made several of your bibs for friends and nieces and nephews - your friendly little animal designs are huge successes and the bib design is much loved by the parents.

Thank you for sharing and for continuing to share even when you didn't receive feedback or expressions of gratitude. I'm sorry for not thanking you sooner.

Sincerely,
Abby

I would like to ask permission to use your Mickey the cat and Purrfect. This will be for fundraising for a great cause Quagga Stray Cat Rescue. I will knit these and give them to the shelter to sell. I will pay for the yarn myself and all money they make will go to helping the cats that they rescue (vet bills, food). I will give you credit. Love all your stuff.

Love Ruthie's Farm blanket! Do you written directions for it? I've been searching for a farm themed baby blanket to knit & it is exact what I want! Thanks for sharing your animal patterns, I'm not sure how to assemble the bib patterns for a blanket!

Thank you for sharing your patterns, I have used them to knit baby washcloths and bibs for a veteran's baby shower sponsored by our Red Cross. They have also made great baby gifts. I appreciate your generosity and talent, as these are easy for those of us who are beginning level knitters.

Elaine, I was searching for a pattern last night and somehow this post was on my computer this morning when I woke up. I have never contacted you, but I feel I should make a comment. I have made several of your patterns (sometimes with a slightly modified border). I like your patterns so much that often when I want a new one I search by your name instead of the pattern idea. Thanks and keep up the good work.

I do love the purple cow and thank you for sharing! I came here to Pete and was pleasantly surprised to find your other cute patterns. If I fail to post my project, I apologize, I'm not very good at that.

A number of these are very cute. I’m trying to get a copy of the Eleanor sheep dish cloths pattern. Is there a way to get a copy of it?
